Surface Solutions modernizes outdated kitchens by resurfacing cabinets, tile and countertops, and refacing cabinets.

Although especially known for their bathtub resurfacing, Surface Solutions is one of the only businesses in the Siouxland area that offers kitchen cabinet resurfacing and refacing as an alternative to cabinet removal and installation. Cabinet resurfacing is for homeowners who are basically satisfied with the layout of their kitchen but want to give their cabinets a new appearance. During this process, Surface Solutions applies a very durable, high-tech coating over the existing surface without removal or replacement. The coatings come in a variety of custom colors to complement any decorating scheme. The ultimate benefit of cabinet resurfacing is that typically it is as much as 75 percent less than cabinet replacement. Sioux City homeowner Michelle Sherman hired Surface Solutions to resurface her cabinets. “It really lightened and brightened my kitchen,” she said. “And resurfacing was absolutely less costly than replacing our cupboards, which we had considered doing. It was a less costly procedure with great results.”

In addition to cabinets, Surface Solutions can resurface countertops and tile. Although Surface Solutions has resurfaced countertops in various colors for years, in May of 2004 Surface Solutions began to spray countertops with a product known as Stone-Flecks Multicolor Finishes. When applied to countertops, the product duplicates the appearance of a stone or granite surface for use as an architectural finish. Tested against the leading multi-color brands, Stone-Flecks delivers superior durability, color fastness, abrasion, stain resistance, and flexibility. Surface Solutions offers a five year resurfacing warranty. However, with proper care and maintenance, the average homeowner can expect the finish to last at least 15 years.

Cabinet Refacing is another popular remodeling alternative for homeowners who want to remodel their kitchen. Cabinet refacing is a process of renewing cabinets by removing old doors and drawer fronts. The cabinet face frames are then resurfaced with pre-finished wood veneer and the bottom and sides of the cabinets with prefinished plywood. Ultimately, new doors and drawer fronts are installed. Several other modifications, including upgrading old drawers and slides or replacing a worn-out lazy susan, can be done at the same time. Reface kitchen remodeling will give the homeowner a beautiful new kitchen for a fraction of the cost of ripping everything out and replacing it. Along with cabinet replacement often comes additional costs such as floor and countertop replacement, sheetrock repair, electrical and plumbing expenses. In addition, a cabinet refacing job is usually a lot less disruptive than a conventional cabinet replacement job, which can take up to four weeks to complete.
